Horizon zero dawn turn off map icons2/25/2024 ![]() ![]() But after you set up and execute a cunning plan to decimate a pack of giant robot crocodiles and that smile hits your face, it’s more excusable. It has detective vision, radio towers, skill trees, masked load screens ( Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland gets no credit for popularizing this in 2005, by the way), and a world map littered with billions of points of interest - all stuff you’ve seen before. Horizon Zero Dawn is a fascinating premise wrapped in a tortilla of tropes. Turning off the HUD and invoking the now Sony-standard camera mode also played a huge part in my decision to spend a lot of my time doing nothing in particular. It’s stunning with 4K and HDR support (on a Pro),and although the 30FPS cap does sting at times, it’s mostly stable. The day and night cycle, which plays out even during multiple mission failures, is beautiful, as is the weather system. Lest you think corners were cut rushing an open world game out of the door, think again. On the way to an objective I’d get lost on purpose trying to craft an upgrade or find a rare material, only to look at my watch and see that three hours had passed. At no point did I feel like any arena challenges or bunker spelunking sidequests were droll, merely inoffensive filler, backed by a really strong core. You’ll spend roughly 92.7 percent of Horizon Forbidden West looting for resources from typical sources: plants, rocks, dead people, the shattered mechanical skeletons of giant robo. Usually you can judge an open world game based on how much it makes me want to keep chasing those shiny map icons, and Horizon Zero Dawn is in the unique position in that it inspires me to just screw around. I never really had to specifically grind to beat anything, but the game does lightly push you towards sidequests as a means of leveling up (since, in a non-traditional manner, some missions grant you different stat bonuses than others). ![]() Although some might be turned off after being one-shot by a boss, I relished the chance to temper my skills and found the difficulty curve to be refreshing for an open world game. If you don't get to that region naturally in your travels, you can talk to people and hear about the DLC region and a minor quest will appear in your journal - again, the icon on your map will be blue to help differentiate it from the core game content. It’s especially odd when juxtaposed to how heated combat gets, as machines tend to have large lifepools and dish out tons of damage. If you want to, you can simply go to the area and start exploring and getting quests there, because it's not locked behind a level-wall, and it doesn't remove you from the main map (like the Dragonborn DLC from Skyrim, for example). The introductory quest also shows up as a blue icon on your map to ensure you know it's part of the DLC. Normal is obvious, dynamic fades the basic hud when you're not in combat, and I haven't messed with custom. That isn't how Depth of Field works AT ALL. It's solely so 100 of the screen remains clear, detailed and not distorted. In most games I actually notice a difference but I don't turn it off for anything related to performance. Enable Custom Button Assignments then go to Customize Button Assignments. Less detailed pixels to render (DoF on) means more fps. Select Accessibility in the Settings menu. Keep in mind this will remap controls for every game, not just Horizon Zero Dawn. ![]() So these quests are at different places instead of starting a quest which unlocks other quests? The DLC-related quests and information have slightly different icons in your journal to help differentiate them from the core game content. If you're uncomfortable using the default layout on consoles, you can map buttons in the Accessibility settings. Probably the most narratively interesting one is if you go past the Grave-Hoard, as mentioned, but the funniest one ever is picking it up outside of Meridian. Anywhere you see a special BLUE exclamation mark, you can pick up the Frozen Wilds mission from there. Автор сообщения: Eye of NewtLook on your game map. ![]()
